I was watching some police programme on TV the other day, with an air chase that had the police helicopter crew on their toes; having to perform a lot of sudden maneuvers.
How do police, or HEMS (medical), helicopters communicate with ATC? I presume they get priority, but do ATC clear other traffic out of the way? Is there a comms person/navigator on-board? Do they simply "see and avoid"?
The exact procedures will vary locally but typically ATC will give priority to police and ambulance helicopters that operate emergency services.
If these helicopters are operating in controlled airspace, communication with ATC will be done by normal VHF radio. There is no need for a dedicated communications person, the pilot will be in contact with ATC.
Sudden manoeuvring of these flights is rarely a problem for ATC since these aircraft are operating under Visual Flight Rules.
When chasing a car, the pilot remains responsible for keeping clear of obstacles and other traffic, therefore this requires a second person to keep a look out (either on the car or the surroundings)

Inspired by this question. My knowledge concerning helicopters is quite limited: what is auto-rotation? are there other "rotations" possible? in what do they differ?
Do lighter-than-air aircraft communicate with ATC? If not, how do they avoid running into other aircraft?
Since pilots are permitted to communicate in their own language to eachother in the cockpit, and to ATC in their own country, it stands to reason that some fwc's might say "te laag, terrein!" I've seen some Russian planes with everything written in Russian in the cockpit: Do any planes have callouts in languages other than English? Are any planes built with the option to change the spoken language? E.g. an Airbus talking French.
When I learned to fly helicopters, I of course spent significant time learning about and practicing autorotations. The CFI at my school, who had around 15,000 hrs (that's right, fifteen thousand... at the flare and cushion, you would survive. Is this a correct take on the survivability of an autorotation? Do fatalities arise primarily from errors during the autorotation entry or flare? While you might not get to use the machine again, and you might spend some time in hospital, you would live to fly another day. I am assuming a reasonable place on dry land is available to finally come to rest
There are some good sights to see inside of class Bravo airspace. What is the best way to plan and communicate to ATC that my intention is to fly into the airspace to see some specific landmarks?
What does ATC do when there is an emergency? This could be a tower or an ARTCC being evacuated or otherwise unusable. How do they decide whether to close the airport/airspace? What do they do with the traffic, whether they do or don't close? On this related question, it turned out that Newark closed because of smoke in the tower. Is there a procedure in place to request a copy of the audio recording of a specific ATC position over a specific time interval? How is the request made? What are the limitations of such a request? For the purpose of this answer, consider that there would be a need for the audio from a controller, which may involve multiple frequencies as well as interphone communication with other controllers. As such, internet resources that provide recordings of specific frequencies would not be adequate.
Primary target: An aircraft not reporting mode-C, the only thing the controller has is the return on the radar. When a controller reports a primary target as traffic to other aircraft, the controller does not have the altitude of the target. Given this, I conclude that ATC radar does not have the altitude (angle-up) to the target, and only provides azimuth. So then without the altitude, how does the radar-system know where to put the target laterally on the screen? Example, a radar picks up a target that is 10 miles from the station. If the target is 0 AGL, the proper position would be 10
